Harnessing the fire of Bealtaine – the power of reconnection

Bealtaine marks the start of summer, the gateway to long evenings of sociability and hospitality, blooming gardens and warm sun on our faces. I’ve had some very interesting conversations lately about reconnection after the time of covid. Of course covid is still around, but our relationship with it has changed and we find ourselves emerging from a time where sociability and hospitality were banned, restricted, contracted – into the summer months of festivals, gigs, beach gatherings and BBQ’s – whatever the weather.

How are you finding this time of reconnection?

Do you catch yourself pulling back and wonder why?

Do you notice the shift from contraction to expansion?

Do you catch the eye of strangers on the street and smile, or keep your eyes lowered?

Whatever our minds may be saying, what’s happening at an embodied level?

We’ve spent the past two years being programmed to stand apart, and now we are free to shake hands, to mingle, to dance with strangers…

How is it for you?

Bealtaine  is a fire festival, traditionally a time for jumping the fire, setting new intentions and letting the flame of creativity light up inside. This can be a time to light a fire in the backyard or a candle on the windowsill and take a moment to reflect.

What learnings would you keep from the past two years – what served you and nourished you through the challenges?

What are you still carrying that you need to let go of?

Are there any doors you have closed that you are ready to open?

Where do you find nourishing company?

Are there any boundaries you need to re-draw, any commitments to yourself you need to re-make?

Working with clients and groups every week, reminds me that we are all at different stages and each of us has a journey to make that is rarely, if ever, acknowledged in public. The tragedy and devastation in Ukraine has been to the forefront of our minds and media, with good reason. Yet we must not forget that we are still healing and processing trauma, loss and emotional fallout. When these emotions are pushed down, they have an unfortunate habit of coming back to bite us later on.

Bealtaine is a gateway into another stage, the widening and blossoming of summer.

Before you cross that threshold, take a moment to breathe, to reflect and to put down any extra luggage you don’t need anymore.

And if you’d like to reconnect & revive your creative fire in the Dublin Mountains, check out my upcoming live event…
